Kudumbashree Launches ‘Communicore’ to Enhance English Proficiency Among Native Children

Kudumbashree has introduced the Communicore project to help children in native communities improve their English language skills. The initiative aims to equip them with better opportunities in education and employment by overcoming language barriers. By enhancing English proficiency, the project seeks to bridge the gap that often limits access to higher education and job prospects.

In many indigineous areas, Malayalam is the second language, and children often struggle with understanding, learning, and speaking English. This linguistic challenge has contributed to the underrepresentation of native populations in higher education and the workforce. Kudumbashree’s Communicore project is designed as a solution to this issue, ensuring that children gain the language skills necessary for academic and professional success.

The first phase of Communicore will be launched in areas where the Scheduled Caste Special Project/Scheduled Caste Sustainable Development Project is currently being implemented under Kudumbashree’s leadership. The selected regions for the initial phase include Malampandaram Special Project (Pathanamthitta), Marayur Kanthalloor Project (Idukki), Kuttampuzha Ernakulam Kadar Special Project (Thrissur), Parambikulam Project (Palakkad), Attappadi Special Project (Palakkad), Nilambur Project (Malappuram), Thirunellinoolpuzha Project (Wayanad), Aralam Project (Kannur), Koraga Project (Kasaragod)

The program is structured to ensure that each participant receives personalized training to maximize their language proficiency.

Objectives of Communicore

1. Empowering children and youth by enhancing their English language skills.

2. Bridging the language proficiency gap to provide better access to education, employment, and socio-economic opportunities.

3. Enabling local communities to pursue quality education and confidently engage in higher studies and career prospects.

4. Improving employment opportunities by equipping children and young adults with the skills required to compete in the global job market.

5. Promoting social development by strengthening the indigenous sector’s contribution to socio-economic progress.

6. Developing essential communication skills, including speaking, reading, and writing, to enhance English proficiency among children and youth.
