NAKSHA Project, Modern Technology Survey for Urban Land Information

The National Geospatial Knowledge-Based Land Survey of Urban Habitat (NAKSHA) project has been launched to collect land information in urban areas across the state. Under the Digital India Land Records Modernisation Program, all urban land will be surveyed using advanced technology through the NAKSHA project.

The project will measure and record private lands, vacant plots, public properties, railway department lands, municipality lands, temples, bus stands, streams, alleys, roads, water pipelines, electricity lines, UGD lines, telephone lines, and other government properties. Accurate land records will be prepared through this process. The NAKSHA project is being implemented in collaboration with the Revenue Department and the Municipality.

This survey will help resolve ownership disputes legally and prevent encroachments. It will also assist in assessing property values, ensuring fair tax collection, and effective utilization of resources. The Survey of India is implementing the NAKSHA project in 100 cities of the country. 10 cities in Kerala, including Kasaragod Municipality, have been included in the project.

In Kerala, the NAKSHA project is also being carried out in all villages as part of the Ente Bhoomi Digital Survey project. With the swift execution of the NAKSHA project in urban areas, Kerala is set to become the first state in India to complete this initiative at the national level.
